Ran Out of Claude Quota Again? This Open-Source Tool Automatically Switches You to Free Models

An open-source tool called 9Router lets you automatically switch between more than 40 AI providers. When your Claude quota runs out, it automatically falls back to cheaper models, and switches to free models if those are also unavailable. It supports Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and more. Setup takes just two steps, and it's completely free.

"I hit my Claude quota again" — this phrase might soon be a thing of the past.

A tool called 9Router is gaining popularity on GitHub. It acts as a middleware proxy that sits between your coding tools and over 40 AI providers, unifying management through a local endpoint.

Its core logic is simple: the moment you run out of quota, it automatically switches you to a cheaper model. Can't get the cheaper model working? A free model takes over immediately. Your entire session keeps running without interruption.

One configuration works across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Cline and Copilot. It also compresses 20% to 40% of tokens per request. A real-time dashboard shows you how much remaining quota you have with each provider.

The free tier combination is pretty impressive: unlimited access to Claude Sonnet 4.5 via Kiro, unlimited access to Kimi, GLM and MiniMax via iFlow, and unlimited access to Qwen3 Coder via Qwen.

Installation only takes two steps: download it, then point your tools to localhost:20128.

If you often burn through your quota mid-refactor or get hit by limits late at night, this tool lets you keep coding with AI at almost zero extra cost.

It's 100% open source.
