Claude just released a series of desktop updates, and the goal is clear: take over developers' daily repetitive tasks.

The desktop version of Claude Code can now preview running applications, review local code, and monitor CI failures and PR processes in the background. This means developers can write new features while letting Claude handle testing, deployment, and code reviews.

Specifically, the new features are divided into three core parts:

**Server Preview**: Claude can start a development server and preview the running application directly in the desktop interface. It reads console logs, captures errors, and iterates continuously.

**Local Code Review**: Before pushing code, click "Review Code," and Claude will leave inline comments pointing out potential issues and bugs.


**PR Monitoring**: After opening a PR, Claude tracks the CI status in the background. With auto-fix enabled, it attempts to automatically resolve failures; with auto-merge enabled, the PR is merged immediately once checks pass.


A netizen joked on social media: "In the time it took me to make a sandwich, Claude fixed a bug, refactored legacy code, passed the CI pipeline, and even argued with a senior dev in the PR for me."

This update also introduces session mobility. By entering the /desktop command, you can bring a CLI session into the desktop app, or push it to the cloud to continue on the web or mobile.

For small and medium SaaS companies focused on code review and CI/CD tools, this is indeed bad news. When foundational tools start integrating these advanced features, the survival space for single-function products gets significantly compressed.

Claude's download page shows that the desktop app now supports Windows and macOS and is available to all paid users. This update is not just a feature addition; it's a redefinition of the development workflow.
